COMPARISON OF CLINICAL AND ANGIOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF DIABETIC AND NON-DIABETIC PATIENTS WITH ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Objectives: In this study, we evaluated the differences in clinical and angiographic profiles of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with without diabetes mellitus (DM) at a tertiary care cardiac hospital Karachi, Pakistan. Methodology: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted The included consecutive adult (≥ 18 years age) diagnosed STEMI undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Diabetic non-diabetic were compared for profiles. Results: sample consisted 43.8% (218) diabetic patients. mean age 59.03 ± 9.69 vs. 49.54 11.53 years; p<0.001, proportion females 35.3% (77) 14.6% (41); Killip class III or IV (17) 2.5% (7), hypertension 83% (181) 56.8% (159); p<0.001 among group, respectively. frequency multi-vessel disease 50.9% (111) 39.6% (111), significant left main 5% (11) initial TIMI flow 19.3% (42) 25.4% (71) patients, Conclusion: conclusion, setting is associated complex artery diseases, more hemodynamic instability presentation, presence multiple co-morbid conditions.
